Hey guys. Sorry I’ve disappeared (well, not really disappeared). Anyway, I decided to write a blog and show you guys what processes I’ve been through lately. You see, I’ve been kind of addict for a while to donating to animal rights causes (for which I have been getting scolded at from my mother, but whatever! I’m helping animals!) and of requesting animal rightsy things from different sites. Last year in December, I had gone onto Action for Animals.org and requested a free Free Vegan Starter Kit. What I did not know, was that this organization, was to change my life FOREVER.

A couple of weeks after I requested my starter kit, I received it in the mail. Excited more than anything to finally be contributing to amazing animals that need our help. The kit included many pamphlets, vegan recipes, as well as a video – that ten seconds in, I had to turn off. This kit had changed my life forever. My eyes opened to so many things and the disgusting truth of the meat, fur and leather industry. I read and read, wishing that many others that had seen this could help me in spreading the truth around. Unfortunately, everyone I know is a meat eater, who just didn’t seem to care about the suffering of animals. It was a hard thing for me to do, to let this go, and be “normal.” So I continued to eat meat, with guilt, pain and suffering in my heart.

Weeks after that, I decided to make a donation to the The Humane Society of the United States, a $25 donation was all it took. A couple of days later, I received my first copy of “All Animals” magazine. Filled with various pictures and articles of animals and animal cruelty, it made me so much more interested in everything that seemed to be going on behind closed doors. I began to hate people that worked for the Fur Industry, the people that tested on animals, and the people that hurt animals just for fun. I promised and took the Pledge to Fight Animal Cruelty and promised myself that someday, these animals would be able to live in peace. No questions asked.

I had also joined PETA2′s Street Team in hopes of helping any, but no one had ever been supportive of my dreams and goals. I received many, many articles and posters from PETA2 that I was suppose to help fill out, but I guess in the nearby future, I will get my pants on and finish what I started. I took pictures of some of the things you receive when you join PETA2′s Street Team, and request to be given. The idea of not eating meat horrified my parents – both meat eaters for 40+ years. It was until I saw a video of a cow waiting to be killed that I proposed to stop. I looked into his eyes, those eyes of hurt, and pain, of knowing – that he was going to die, and all because of stupid people wanting to eat meat. Another video after that, which shows cows actually being killed in the slaughterhouse, made my heart hurt more than anything in the world. I realized, while I watched, the cow was fully conscious of what was happening to him. He was twitching while being stabbed in the neck, having his ears cut off. Just for your food.

From that point, I stopped eating meat. It’s been almost 3 weeks since I have not eaten meat. It’s not much, but I am definitely proud of myself, and I feel so much better to not contribute to the slaughter of animals. After I stopped eating meat, I came upon the following video which was much too disturbing for me to watch. Since then, I vowed to promote Spay/Neuter and Adopting instead of Buying. Poor puppies and kitties are being euthanized in SICK ways, like the ones in the video BECAUSE of stupid breeders and people that buy from pet shops when animals in shelters are dying everyday. Waiting for their forever home until their time is up and they are dragged out of their cage and killed.

Vegetarian or Not Vegetarian?

I just had to write this because it came to mind, and it’s something that has been frustrating me for very long. I am a Vegetarian. Fully, and whole-heartedly. I do not eat soups w/ beef or chicken broth. I do not eat anything that has gelatin in it (that includes poptarts!). I refuse to buy UGGs and any other animal-based material. I have slowly, but surely, dropped every single label of cruelty (products that have been tested by animals). The only thing that would make me seem like a hypocrite is the fact that I work in a fast-food restaurant. But I do not, I repeat, DO NOT eat any meat, nor do I support that people eat there, and the only reason why I work there is because my aunt got me a job after I had to leave my previous job as a receptionist due to harrassment. I do not enjoy working at this restaurant, and times are hard. Jobs are scarce, so I am making the most of it and saving up money to get out of there as soon as possible. It disgusts me that people go in and out of there everyday and buy so many nasty things. Things that are poisoning your body, and things that once, had a life. Now, I have a bunch of friends that say they are vegetarian.

I ask now…are you a Vegetarian if you eat fish? If you enjoy fishing for a living? If you eat chicken broth and beef broth? If you love UGGs? If you support rodeos?

The answer is no. You eat fish, that have feelings as well, and had a life. You eat animal-based products. You wear fur and skin from an animal (which is by far the worse animal cruelty there is out there!) Rodeos are evil and cruel, and if you support them, you are definitely not an animal lover.

I see these people do this everyday, and it makes me lose respect for them. Why? They are claiming to be something they are not! I’m not trying to point fingers or anything, but I know that by my being a vegetarian, I would NEVER EVER fish, or hunt, or wear fur, or leather, or eat gelatin or anything that has to do with animal-based products. It is disgusting! And to be honest, people like this are the ones that are making our vegetarian community look bad!

That’s really all I wanted to say right now – I had to say it. It had to be done.

Best Week Ever!

I needed to write this before I hop off to bed, because honestly, I am having the BEST week of my life!! I’ve been cranky, yes, but things could not be any better! My birthday weekend was amazing. Friday, I went to see Jennifer’s Body with Mark & Brittany. It was amazing. I never thought I would ever say that about a movie with Megan Fox in it! Saturday, mom and I went shopping, as well as Sunday. I got the fifth book of Vampire Kisses, which is AMAZINGG. I’m going to start doing book reviews (maybe!) And on Sunday when we were out, we went into PetGoods (after I practically BEGGED mom to take me) and I snagged a “I brake for animals” bumper sticker and an ad on their cork board to be a Wildlife Rehabilitator. I called, and signed up for the course! I am so so so so so so excited! I am planning to learn so much, my brain will burst from all the information haha. Also in the process of planning my weekend trip to Puerto Rico so I can get the copy of my diploma and what not!

Everything is going grand and I would not have it any other way!

Happy Belated Birthday To Me!

This was absolutely the greatest weekend of my life. Although I did not do much, I got to celebrate my 22nd birthday with the people I love the most – my two best friends, Mark and Brittany and my family. Today, my mom and I went shopping, spent some quality time together. I had a lot of fun and I found out about a course that I am VERY interested in taking! It’s a one-time course, no fee necessary, and it’s only I believe a 5 hour class. I’m going to call tomorrow to register.

So, how do I feel as a 22 year old? I feel GREAT. I feel unstoppable to be honest. I think this is my year. The year that I break out of my shell and make all of my dreams come true. I’m tired of saying that over and over again and then just letting myself down. I want to be able to make a change in my life. This is it. This is my time. I need to believe in myself to be able to do the things I want to do – and I believe and am confident, more than ever.

Watch out world. Here I come.

My journey has begun at last =)

I am in an incredible mood right now. First of all, I started painting my room and I am LOVING the purple I chose. It goes GREAT with my purple curtains. Everything so far is going really good. I’m going to try and improve my work performance this week, and I am going to start another job next week. So I will be working two jobs, but it’ll be totally worth it. My birthday is on Friday =) YAY! I am very excited. I bought a “Birthday Girl” sash at Party City & I have a cute little tiara. So I will most likely be getting my hair, my nails and everything else done for this weekend. I can’t wait for you guys to see my whole room when it is finished. This is going to be an incredible journey I will never forget! Can’t wait until January =)

Stress, stress, stress

Hey guys! So here I am updating for today =) So, today was a really busy day. I got to work late, AGAIN. Nothing new. Bleh! It was a really busy day (at work) They showed me how to clean the coffee machine, which is something I will have to be doing everyday. I pretty much got the hang of it though. After work, I went to Rojay Party, in my quest for a sash that said either “It’s My Birthday” or “Birthday Girl”. Sadly, I found none. Oh well! I also got like a million questions I need to learn and study for the competition against Tina on Thursday. I’m so excited, yet so scared. This’ll be a good week though – no doubt about it! I haven’t written anything more than the two paragraphs I wrote but I will see if I can get my brain muscles pumping tonight or tomorrow. I’ve also been thinking about getting my drivers permit VERY soon! We’ll see how that goes. Well, I guess that’s all for now. Hopefully I can find someone who will actually read this than feel stupid and idiotic for just writing this to myself.

Starting over ♥

Hey guys! I’m sorry I missed yesterday’s post. I know, I know, don’t hit me over it! I’m not slacking off, I promise. =) I had a really busy day yesterday, and when I finally got home to relax, I found myself with ideas for a new novel. Yes, a new novel! After my thoughts and ideas settled into one, I was done with two paragraphs. Sadly, that’s all I have right now, but I feel as if I have grown as a writer. I worked up my courage, actually, to show my cousin (Anthony) what I had written, and he responded with “you’re a really good writer.” He also told me that the story would appeal to many female readers. That’s my goal! =) I showed it to Donna (a VERY close friend) who herself said that she found the main character (Johnny Grey) simply irresistable. I cannot wait to finish this story! Maybe it will be the one that I will finally get published =) Who knows? Anyway, my birthday is in a week! YAY! I’m so excited, yet so scared of aging and not knowing what exactly is expected of me. I have just one simple question to all of you:

If you were turning 22, what would you most want to do with your life and why?

What will be of me as a 22 year old?

I have been freaking out lately, more than usual. Why? My 22nd birthday is in 8 days and a couple of hours. My days as a 21 year old are almost over, and I feel like I have yet to accomplish something great in my life. This upcoming birthday, with it’s year of being 22 years old shines as an opportunity for me to show the world who I am and to prove myself a great person and an amazing soul. 2008 was a great for me. I went to my very first concert, graduated from college, and returned home to land my first job in retail AND in the medical field. I feel like 2009 has taken away the magic that 2008 had on me. It’s not as exciting as the years previous were. The only good thing that happened this year were the moments I spent with my friends, my family and most importantly, the love of my life. A lot of ups and downs this year, though the promise of a greater life awaits me on the morning of September 25. I feel it will be a chance to redeem myself and to show the world what I, Gisselle Marie, can do. =) I’m very excited, and feel this will be my year. The year I will shine! Wish me luck and I will keep you guys updated, as always.

Hello all =) I know a lot of people will not read this yet but I thought it was only right to start writing in this so that it won’t be so lonely! Please, bare with me as this will be short because my computer is still messed up, and I am currently saving money to buy myself a new one!! I would like to start off by saying that my journey to self-discovery is going amazingly great!! A lot of opportunities are popping out at me and it’s just insanely amazing. I’ve been a part of lot of things that I stand for, and every day it makes me happier and happier. My work life is getting better as the days go by as well! They have finally decided to make me manager (for real, for real!) Jessica (my co-worker) and I will be going to New Jersey to take our classes either in November or in January. We are still not very sure though! I am overwhelmed by everything but smiling at the days as they come and go! Being optimistic is everything, isn’t it? Well, that’s it for now! Hopefully I will be back making Youtube videos again soon and fighting for what I believe in, but with you guys on here!!

P.S. I will be making my autobiography very soon on here so look out for it!!
